Learn how to document ancestral lines before the 1850 Census at Genealogical talk

VERO BEACH — The Indian River Genealogical Society is pleased to announce Debbie Duay, Ph.D. as the featured speaker for the Tuesday, Oct. 9. Duay will discuss important resources for documenting pre-1850 parent-child relationships and will explain how to use early probate records, deeds, guardianships, town and county histories, Bible records and pension records to prove relationships.

The IRGS meets second Tuesdays, September through May, at 9:30 a.m. in the large first floor conference room of the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach. Everyone interested in family history is encouraged to attend. All IRGS general meetings are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Debbie Duay received her Ph. D. in Adult Education from Florida Atlantic University. She has over ten years of experience in researching and teaching genealogy and is the Lineage Research Chairman for the Florida State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She has helped over 300 people join the DAR and Sons of the American Revolution. In addition, she has helped her husband prove descent from 38 Revolutionary War patriots and even King Edward of England and Charlemagne!
