William A. McNamee, 89, died Sept. 13, 2012, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y.
Following the Korean War, he began a 30-year career with Ford Motor Co., with management positions in programming, distribution, scheduling and material control.
In addition, he was Ford’s first energy planning manager.
He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War, during which he was captain of the USS Bullock County.
He retired with the rank of commander. In Indian River County he served as a member of the Indian River County Planning and Zoning commission, councilman of the town of Indian River Shores, member of the city of Vero Beach Finance Commission, treasurer of Trinity Episcopal Church, president of the Peppertree Owners Association and president of the Amherst Association of the Treasure Coast.
He was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Amherst College and the Harvard Business School.
Survivors include his daughter, Jo Anne Jancek; son, Jeffrey McNamee; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth, in 2006.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Sept. 22 at Trinity Episcopal Church Lord Chapel, Vero Beach.
