Sebastian Chamber members get big thank you

SEBASTIAN — Thank you Sebastian Chamber members from the bottom of my heart. Your generous donations of time and money have made the Senior Center of Sebastian a reality.

On Friday, August 31, twenty-six local seniors had their first meeting at the new location. They elected a Board of Directors (President, Secretary, Treasurer, Activity Director, and Program Director).

Three members of the board have previous experience in setting up a 501(3)c, and they are well on their way to completing the necessary paperwork.

They have agreed upon a name: Senior Center of Sebastian.

All of the current afternoon activities will transition to the new location.

Here is what has been accomplished to date:

*The main hall is carpeted and basically furnished. Thank you Bay Street Pharmacy $1,000 and G-n-L Flooring (carpet & install @ cost.)

*New refrigerator. Thank you Lions Club $494.10.

*Interior walls painted – Main Hall and 4 backrooms – Thank you Exchange Club for the Day of Service.

*Miscellaneous supplies – paint, brushes & buckets, 2 small coffee makers, 1 tea warmer, vacuum cleaner, microwave, etc. Thank you Indian River RV – $500 and Sebastian Jr. Women’s Club $100.

*Bathroom and building maintenance – Thank you City of Sebastian Public Works for going above and beyond.

Many other donations have come in, and some are still pending. A complete list will be available at the end of September.
