Burglars haul away glasses, sunglasses worth up to $50G

VERO BEACH — Burglars made off with $40,000 to $50,000 in glasses and frames from the World of Vision store located at 530 21st St. sometime late Sunday night.

Police were sent to the store and reported the front door lock had been pried off. They said the suspect or suspects went to the back of the store, pulled the alarm system from the ceiling and cut the alarm wires and the phone lines. They then disabled the stores electric box.

The suspect or suspects then emptied every display case in the store of eye and sunglasses. Among them were high-end glasses from Maui Jim, Prada, Versace, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Ray Ban, Oakley, Coach, Polo, Ralph Lauren, Vogue, DK&Y, Bolle, and Serengeti.

Multiple styles of each brand were stolen, said police, who valued the haul at upward to $50,000.

The break-in occurred at approximately 11 p.m. Sunday.

If anyone has information on the theft, they are asked to notify Detective Jason Jones at 772-978-4660.
