VERO BEACH — On Monday, August 6, the King’s Men from King’s Baptist Church visited The Source, a homeless assistance center for the homeless and at risk, and donated their impressive construction talents to a greatly needed renovation project: rebuilding the entrance handicap ramp and refurbishing the dilapidated front steps.
There were three volunteers from the King’s Men group. Kenny Chesnut, Chad Alsin, and Jamie Ross contributed over $3,000 worth of materials and several hours of hard work to the task of rebuilding the stairs and improving the wheelchair ramp front entrance to the Source.
”Our desire is to help people,” King’s Men member Jamie Ross explained. “The Bible says to go out and help the orphans, widows, elderly, and poor. We do just that,” Ross added.
The gentlemen who arrived to work at The Source call themselves the King’s Men, because as members of King’s Baptist Church, they formed a group devoted to helping the elderly, the homeless, the unfortunate, and the destitute of Indian River County.
Part of the covenant of King’s Baptist Church is to watch over one another in brotherly love, and the King’s Men team truly exemplifies this Christian spirit.
Projects such as the work contributed by the King’s Men help to meet critical needs without depleting operating funds. The Source is deeply grateful for the support of King’s Baptist Church.
The Source offers a unique resource to Indian River County’s residents in crisis: a Christian community based outreach ministry for individuals and families who are at-risk.
The Source is open six days a week to serve the distressed, needy, and desperate. The goal of The Source is to connect people with community agencies that can assist them and to provide them with the tools they need to overcome challenging situations.
