Richard Medler Sr., 58, died Aug. 15, 2012, at Tampa General Hospital.
He was born in Melbourne and lived in Indian River County for 50 years.
He was employed by the city of Vero Beach as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a member of the Church of God By Faith, where he served as an associate pastor, overseer of the evangelistic ministry department, outreach ministry, Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent.
He attended the public elementary schools of Indian River County and Gifford High School.
Survivors include his wife, Jerenda Medler, of Sebastian; sons, Albert Thomas, of Sebastian, Richard Medler Jr. and Vernon Medler, both of Gifford, and Marquis Tamond Hall, of Sebastian; daughter, Jerlinda Medler, of Sebastian; brothers, Eugene Medler and Lee Melder, both of Madison, and Howard Medler Jr., of Melbourne; sisters, Patricia Medler, of Madison, Gloria Everett, of Orlando and Marilyn Brown, of Fort Lauderdale; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Doctor and Howard Medler, and a sister, Olivia Medler.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 24 at Church of God By Faith in Wabasso.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 25 at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Gifford.
Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Fellsmere.
