Alan Morton Smith, died June 4, 2012, at Indian River Estates in Vero Beach.
He was born in Asbury Park, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for 22 years.
He received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the College of New Jersey in 1949 and was active in the construction materials industry for many years, retiring in 1990 as senior vice president and manager of operations for Material Service Corp. in Chicago, a division of General Dynamics.
He was involved during his retirement in various charitable organizations and was an active member of the congregation of Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nora; sons, Daniel A. Smith and Barry R. Smith; daughter, Linda S. Becker; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund of Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church, 3755 State Road A1A, Vero Beach, FL 32963.
Services will be private.
