VERO BEACH — Don Croteau, Chairman of “The Ride to Beat Hunger,” has announced that all donations made after April 25, 2012, to support Rev. Scott W. Alexander’s cross-country bicycle journey will be matched dollar to dollar, up to $10K, by an anonymous angel.
”We will reach our goal of $50,000 if we can match this generous donation,” said Croteau. “It was Scott’s dream to find an angel, such as this generous donor, and it’s perfect timing now that Scott has officially launched his ride.”
Alexander, minister of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach, has now embarked on a demanding month-long, 3,300 mile bike ride across America to beat hunger. The Ride began on Sunday, April 22 from Costa Mesa, California, and will end at a welcome home rally at Waldo’s inside the historic Driftwood Resort in Vero Beach on Tuesday, May 22, at 5:30 p.m.
His goal is to raise $50,000 to be split evenly between the Harvest Food and Outreach Center of Vero Beach (which distributes low cost food locally to those in need) and Stop Hunger Now (an established international organization which packages millions of meals to be distributed around the world, primarily through school feeding programs in hunger-stricken regions of the world).
Alexander’s goal of raising $50,000 is more than half way completed and will be met if all of the $10k angel dollars are matched. All donations and sponsorships will now be assigned matching angel dollars.
Checks can be made out to Indian River Community Foundation for The Ride to Beat Hunger and can be sent to P.O. Box 650126, Vero Beach, FL 32965.
