James Leroy Sanders, 77, Vero Beach

James Leroy Sanders, 77, died May 13, 2012, at Abbiejean Russell Care Center.

He was born in Pelham, Ga., and lived in Indian River and St. Lucie counties since 2002, coming from Orlando.

He was an Army veteran.

Before retirement, he was a cement finisher in the construction business.

He was a member of the Humble Church of God, where he served as a choir member.

Survivors include his sons, Archelaus Boldes and Tavoris Sanders, both of Vero Beach; daughters, Dorothy Sanders, of Newark, N.J., June Briggs, of Orlando, Jaire Sanders, of Mobile, Ala., and Roslyn Sanders, Tia Dawkins and Catherine McKenzie, all of Vero Beach; brothers, Marcus Sanders, of Vero Beach, and Junior Sanders, of Texas; sisters, Veronica Sanders, Donnis Sanders and Gwendolyn Sanders, all of Vero Beach; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Sanders, and sisters, Quilla Mae Sanders and Runette Sanders.

Visitation will be at noon with a service to begin at 1 p.m. May 19 at the Humble Church of God in Gifford.

Burial will be at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.

Arrangements are by Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel.
