Austin Leon “Jack” Clemons, 84, Vero Beach

Austin Leon “Jack” Clemons, 84, died Feb. 26, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Cooperhill, Mo., and lived in Vero Beach for 24 years, coming from Islamorada.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Before retirement in 1982, he was employed by the Kansas City Power and Light Co. as a tree trimmer for 35 years.

He was a member of First Church of God in Vero Beach.

He was a membership chairman for Mended Hearts; a volunteer for the He Shall Supply Ministries, the Disaster Service Human Resources Team and the Disaster Action Team of the American Red Cross, Life for Youth, Teen Challenge and the Source.

He also volunteered in the delivery of food to those in need.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jo Anne Clemons of Vero Beach; son, Thomas Clemons of Grandview, Mo.; daughter, Kendra Allen of Indio, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Linden Clemons.

Memorial contributions may be made to the He Shall Supply Ministries, 845 10th Court S.W., Vero Beach, FL 32962.
