Donald Kaufmann, 81, died Feb. 26, 2012, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Alma, Mich., and lived in Vero Beach for 11 years, coming from Warren, Vt.
He earned his graduate degrees from Northwestern and Yale universities.
He taught high school mathematics in Connecticut and Vermont.
He was an Army veteran.
He was a member and worshipped at the Community Church of Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lois Kaufmann, of Vero Beach; daughter, Ruth Kaufmann, of Colchester, Vt.; son, Robert Kaufmann, of Warren, Vt.; and sister, Ann Kaufmann, of Minneapolis, Minn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Church of Vero Beach, 1901 23rd St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.
Memorial services will be in Vermont at a future date.
Arrangements are by Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
