Frederick “Fred” Morrison Cody, 83, died Feb. 22, 2012, at his home.
He was born in St. Louis, Mo., and lived in Sebastian.
He graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla, School of Mines and Metallurgy, with a bachelor of science in mining engineering, with a specialty in petroleum engineering.
He participated in the Army ROTC program and upon graduation was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Reserve.
He served in the Korean conflict.
He had a career as a petroleum engineer with Barger Engineering and his own petroleum engineering consulting firm.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 189, participating in the Honor Guard for several years.
He attended services at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his son, Douglas B. Cody, of San Francisco, Calif.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 29 at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, with the Rev. Dave Newhart, rector of St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, officiating.
Military honors will be conducted by the Sebastian Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be at Sebastian Cemetery.
