VERO BEACH — Beginning Friday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m., the sounds of nature typically heard at McKee Botanical Garden will be eclipsed by the lively sounds of classic jazz music as the Garden premiers a series of five jazz events.
“Jazz in the Garden” will feature evening performances taking place on Fridays Jan. 13, Feb. 3 and March 9 from 6 to 8 p.m., as well as Sunday brunch events on Jan. 22 and March 18 from Noon to 2 p.m.
The series will feature a diverse mix of talent from throughout the area adding their own musical styling to classic jazz favorites from such distinguished artists as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald, among others.
Kicking off the series on Jan. 13 will be acclaimed South Florida-based duo Davis & Dow. Known for blending unique and inventive musical arrangements with classic jazz tunes, this multi award winning duo has been described as “Soul times two.” Davis and Dow have been voted Best Jazz Artists, New Times magazine and Julie Davis has been named Best Jazz Vocalist by City Link magazine.
Also scheduled to perform in the series are:
- Jan. 22 from Noon to 2 p.m. – Soulfege, Jazz at its Finest
- Feb.3 from 6 to 8 p.m. – Bossas, Boleros & Blues
- March 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. – Mark Fernicola
- March 18 from Noon to 2 p.m. – Roger Rossi and Class Action
The cost for “Jazz in the Garden” is general admission; free to McKee members.
Evening jazz events also will offer dinner from Elizabeth’s at the Garden Café for an additional $17.95. Dinner includes a choice of entrée, 2 sides, bread, dessert and beverage.
Brunch can be added to the Sunday events for $13.95. Choose from French toast casserole, seared ham, scrambled eggs, fresh herb and gruyere egg strata, assorted pastries, coffee and juice served buffet style.

The mission of McKee Botanical Garden is to nurture and enhance a historic garden in a unique tropical setting for the education, enjoyment and enrichment of all. McKee Botanical Garden is located at 350 US Highway 1 in Vero Beach.
General admission fees are $9 adults, $8 seniors and $5 children ages 3 to 12. Admission is free for members and children under 3. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
