Sarah Blair Weathers, 94, died on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012.
Weathers was born on Nov. 30, 1917, the first baby born in the mining town of Lynch (Harlan County) Kentucky.
The family moved to Summerfield in 1924 and to Vero Beach in 1931, where Weathers graduated from Vero Beach High School, class of 1934.
She was married to John Seaborn Weathers of Ocala, on Feb. 11, 1942.
She was an accountant and business consultant for over 60 years.
Active in Girl Scouts as a troop leader and a camp counselor, she was also active in boy scouts as a den mother and camp leader.
She was a charter member of the Pilot Club of Ft. Pierce, served two terms as president, and was on the board for many years.
She worked on the annual Home Show each year, and remained an emeritus member throughout her life.
Weathers was treasurer of the Pelican Yacht Club Auxiliary, treasurer of the Poinciana Garden Circle and chairwoman of the Garden Club House Committee.
She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
In her past she taught ballroom dancing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John S. Weathers and ten brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Weathers Anderson and her husband, Henry Anderson, of Silver Spring, Md.; her son, John Seaborn Weathers Jr. and his wife, Helen Enns Weathers, of Sarasota; three grandchildren, Kristine Lindsey and her husband, Mark Lindsey, of Bethesda, Md., Erik Anderson and his wife, Teresa Anderson, of Columbia, Md., and Kelly Johnson and her husband, Donny Johnson, of Tampa; and seven great-grandchildren, Devin, Emma, Kaitlin, Jakob, Emily, Ryan, and Leah.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Yates Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.
A celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Shirley Groom, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
