John M. Finnigan, 87, Vero Beach

John M. Finnigan, 87, died Jan. 22, 2012, at the Isles of Vero in Vero Beach.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Spanish Lakes in Fort Pierce for 25 years, and five years at the Isles of Vero.

Before his retirement, he worked as a supervisor for the New York Telephone Co.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He was a member of the New York Telephone Pioneers and the Italian-American Club of Vero Beach.

Survivors include his sons, Jack Finnigan, of Coram, N.Y., Kevin Finnigan, of Fire Island, N.Y., Mark Finnigan, of Lancaster, Pa., and Bob Baber, of West Virginia; daughters, Ellen Donnelly, of Jamesport, N.Y., Number Four, of Long Island, N.Y., Sheila Sweeney, of East Rockaway, N.Y., and Jill Peterson, of Colorado; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Margaret; second wife of 28 years, Roberta; son, Michael; and granddaughter, Sara.

Services are planned for a later date.
