Richard J. Strang, 63, died Jan. 2, 2012, at his home. He was born in Cohoes, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 30 years, coming from New York.
He worked as a medic for the Martin County Correctional Institute and at the VA Clinic in Vero Beach.
He served as a medical corpsman in the Navy and was assigned to the Marines during Vietnam.
He was of the Episcopalian faith.
Survivors include his daughter, Jamie Gates, of Schenectady, N.Y.; parents, William and Marcella Strang, of Vero Beach; and sister, Barbara Cassier, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Services will be at Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
