Thomas Duane Messmann, 59, died Dec. 2, 2011, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.
He was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., and lived in Vero Beach for 11 years, coming from Denver.
He was a painter and a chef.
Survivors include his companion, Marge Williams, of Vero Beach; stepmother, Lois Anzini, of Sebastian; sons; Thomas, of Ohio and David, of New York; daughters, Joline, of New York and Jessie, of Colorado; brother, Michael Stieglitz, of North Carolina; and sister, Tamra Annett, of Sebastian.
Memorial contributions can be made to Dogs and Cats Forever Animal Shelter, 4600 Selvitz Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Vero Beach.
