Perry Marc Pisani 59, of Sebastian, died at his residence after a prolonged illness.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Florida for 45 years.
He was a deputy with the Indian River County Sheriff’s office for 30 years and a police officer with the VBPD for two years.
He held a culinary degree from American Culinary Federation and loved cooking for his family and friends.
The Florida Restaurant Association named him Distinguished Student.
Governor Jeb Bush presented him with his award at the International Food Show in Orlando.
He followed God’s calling 22 years ago and was the driving force behind Christian FM becoming part of his community.
After retiring from the Sheriff’s office, he worked part time for a public jazz radio station in Brevard County.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years Rena Pisani, of Sebastian; daughter Gail Pisani, of Vero Beach; stepdaughter Sabrena Gonzalez, of Kansas, stepson Sheldon Brister, of Vero Beach; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Otto Pisani, Mother Phillipa Pisani, and sister Lenore Wheelus.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at 5 p.m. at Central Assembly of God 6767 20th Street, Vero Beach with Pastor Buddy Tipton officiating.
