Thomas Chubb Richards, 85, of Vero Beach, and Elkins, N.H., died Dec. 25, 2011.
He was born March 17, 1926, in East Orange, N.J., to the late Thomas C. Richards Sr. and Gertrude (Price) Richards.
He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and enlisted in the Navy to serve four years during World War II.
Following his service in the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Diana (Wheatley).
They celebrated their 62nd anniversary in October.
He received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and earned an MBA from New York University.
He worked in New York City as a financial and investment manager for a private family.
He lived for forty years in Chatham Township, N.J., where he served on the Board of Education.
During his many years as a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Millington, N.J., he served as the director of the church school and on the vestry.
He was a member of King Solomon’s Lodge No. 14 F. & A.M., of Elkins, N.H., and Genesis Lodge No. 88 F. & A.M., of Pompton Lakes, N.J.
In 1993, he moved to Vero Beach, where he was a member of the Moorings Club and Trinity Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters: Louise Preissler, of East Lyme, Conn.; Carol Cline, of Berkeley Heights, N.J.; Janet Molstad, of Madison, N.J.; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; and his sister Gertrude Decker, of Woodstock, Md.
He was predeceased by two other sisters, Jane Colt, of Rochester, N.Y., and Katherine Retzer, of Vero Beach.
Services will be in the chapel at Trinity Episcopal Church on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 1 p.m.
