Boyce Eugene “Gene” Wellmaker, 77, died Dec. 7, 2011, at his home.
He was born in DeLand and was a longtime resident of Indian River County.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War.
He graduated from Embry-Riddle School for Aeronautics in Miami and later worked eleven years for Piper Aircraft, followed by 28 years with the Federal Aviation Administration.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Florence Wellmaker, of Sebastian; sons, Butch Wellmaker, of New York and Lonnie Wellmaker, of Palm City; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 10 at Fellsmere Community Church.
