Boyce Eugene “Gene” Wellmaker, 77, of Sebastian, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at his home.
He was born May 24, 1934, in Deland, and has been a long time resident of Indian River County.
Wellmaker served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He graduated from Embry Riddle, School for Aeronautics, in Miami and later worked eleven years for Piper Aircraft followed by 28 years with the Federal Aviation Administration.
Wellmaker is remembered as a resident of Sebastian and in his earlier years, as a pitcher of the Fellsmere Men.
