Donald Everett Knapp Sr., 79, died Nov. 4, 2011, at his home.
He was born in Danbury, Conn., and lived in Vero Beach since 1986, coming from Branford, Conn.
He was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Conn., and a member of KBR fraternity.
He was a member of the Vero Beach Country Club, VFW, and American Legion, all of Vero Beach.
He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Danbury.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War.
He was a founding member of Christ Church of Vero Beach.
Before retirement, he and his wife operated several California Closet franchises in South Florida.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Mary Lynn, of Vero Beach; sons, Donald E. Knapp Jr., of West Haven, Conn., and Paul Sobolewski, of Guilford, Conn.; daughter, Mandy Sobolewski, of Vero Beach; and two grandchildren.
A gathering will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 13 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
A memorial service will be at noon Nov. 14 at Christ Church of Vero Beach, with the Rev. Robert Stull officiating.
