Ret. Col. George Roger Crook, 79, Vero Beach

Ret. Col. George Roger Crook, 79, of Vero Beach, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at VNA Hospice House.

He was born Jan. 30, 1932, in Austin, Texas and moved to Vero Beach in 2001, coming from Rockledge.

Col. Crook graduated from Hardin Simmons University at Abilene, Texas and later received his master’s of education from John Hopkins University, Homewood Campus in Baltimore, Md.

He retired as colonel after 26 years with the United States Army Aviation, having served in Vietnam and Iran.

Following his army retirement, Col. Crook worked 19 years at Kennedy Space Center as Lockheed Project manager.

Col. Crook was a member of Military Officers Association & U.S. Army Aviation Association.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Nancy, of Vero Beach; son, Carl W. Kuehner, of Cocoa; two sisters, Karen Lee Brooks, of San Angelo, Texas and Dorothy Ann St. Germain, of San Angelo, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled at this time.

An inurnment with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
