Robert B. McCaleb, 89, died Sept. 28, 2011, in Spring Lake, Mich.
He was born in Muskegon, Mich., and lived in Sebastian.
He owned and operated Bob McCaleb Fire Equipment Inc.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Forces in World War II, flying 229 missions over the Himalayan mountains “HUMP” route from India to China for the China National Aviation Corp.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal.
He was a member of American Legion Post 366 in Barefoot Bay.
Survivors include his sons, Robert E. McCaleb and Randall S. McCaleb; two sisters; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Thelma Nagle McCaleb.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 3 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home, Spring Lake.
Private interment will be at Mona View Cemetery.
