Margaret T. Johnson, 89, died Aug. 3, 2011, at Broward Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.
She was born in Mayo and lived in Vero Beach for 23 years, coming from Live Oak.
Before retiring, she was a teacher and media specialist in the Live Oak public schools.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vero Beach, a lifetime member of Alpha Delta Kappa (teachers honor society), an honorary lifetime member of the Florida PTA, and a former officer of the Florida Association of Childhood Education.
Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Joseph L. Johnson, of Vero Beach; sons, Randy Johnson, of Coral Springs and Richard Leon Johnson, of Live Oak; sister, Cindy Chesser, of Vero Beach; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann; and son, Michael Johnson.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at Strunk Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach, with a funeral at 2 p.m.
Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
