Thousands lose power from Hurricane Irma

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Thousands of Florida Power & Light Co. customers lost power as the outer bands of Hurricane Irma made their way up through south Florida.

A total of 6,150 customers lost power Sunday, according to the FPL Power Tracker. About 4 p.m. Sunday, FPL crews had restored power to 3,940 customers.

A remaining 2,210 customers are still without power. Crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

FPL serves a total of 56,300 customers in Indian River County.

FPL customers who want to report power outages should call 1-800-4-OUTAGE. City of Vero Beach customers who want to report outages should call 772-978-5000.
