VERO BEACH — Save the date of Sunday, July 17 to be part of an action-packed day at Waldo’s Restaurant for Waldo’s 4th Annual Christmas in July fundraiser to benefit The Love Doctors Charities.
The day’s activities will also include a Poker Run which begins and ends at Waldo’s, and an Inaugural Cathy McCloskey Memorial Golf Tournament and Golf Ball Drop at Sandridge Golf Club. Details are listed below.
“Lee Olsen is the manager of Waldo’s restaurant and the driving force behind the annual Christmas in July to benefit The Love Doctors Charities,” explained Terri May, Executive Director of Love Doctors Charities. “On the day of the event, you will not find a group of individuals that work harder than Lee, Joe and their employees. It is truly a labor of love they perform for the Charity and we are deeply grateful.”
Admission to Waldo’s 4th Annual Christmas in July from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. is free, but new, unwrapped toys for all ages are needed and appreciated. The Love Doctors Charities provides new toys to more than 8,000 local children each holiday season.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Pick Your Prize” raffle tickets will be sold, the Uproot Hootenanny Band will play from 12 Noon to 5 p.m., and there will be appearances by Real Radio personalities, Budweiser Girls, Rum Girls and Celebrity Bartenders from 2 to 5 p.m.
New this year is the Cathy McCloskey Memorial Golf Tournament to be held at the Sandridge Golf Club on its Lakes Course. The tournament is being played in memory of Cathy McCloskey, who volunteered every year at Christmas in July and whose daughter is an employee at Waldo’s.
The four person scramble begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, with prize winners in three divisions: Men’s Open, Couples and Ladies.
$100 per person registration is limited to 112 players, and includes golf with cart, range balls, goody bag, event tee shirt, one Golf Ball Drop ticket, and lunch afterward at Waldo’s.

There will also be a Golf Ball Drop, with 500 golf balls dropped from a crane at the conclusion of the tournament. Ball Drop raffle tickets are available for a $20 donation. The ball closest to the target will win a $2,000 Visa gift card, Second prize is a weekend at South Beach Place in Vero Beach (value $350), Third prize is a Sharper Image wireless reader (value $200), and Fourth prize is a Vivitar digital video recorder (value $150).

The Poker Run, which also includes prizes, begins at 10 a.m. at Waldo’s. Cost is $20 per player; $5 for each additional card.
