Anna May “Nan” Dahlkamp, 83, Vero Beach

Anna May “Nan” Dahlkamp, 83, died April 20, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

She was born in Chicago and lived in Vero Beach for 19 years, coming from Munster, Ind.

She was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

Survivors include her son, Paul Dahlkamp, of Farmington, N.Y.; daughters, Sue Dahlkamp, of Chicago and Donna Younker, of Griffith, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James T. Dahlkamp.

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. April 22 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
