VERO BEACH — The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVB & IRC) invites the public to its Howl-O-Ween event on Saturday, October 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission to the event is free.
“Our Howl-O-Ween is for both two and four-legged members of the family” says Humane Society Director of Customer and Volunteer Services Phaedra Kohler.
The day will feature activities for the kids including tractor-pulled hayrides, a bounce house and treasure hunt, sack races and face painting. Curious canines can even have their paws read by a mystical fortune teller to determine if treats are in their future. Food, drink and ice cream vendors will also be taking part in the celebration.
The Howl-O-Ween festivities will also include the shelter’s 29th Annual All-American Mutt Show at 1:00 p.m. Awards will be given for dogs who are tallest, smallest, have the best costume, the best tail-wagger are most talented and most mixed breed.
Registration for the Mutt Show begins at noon and is $10 per dog with all funds going to help Indian River County animals.
The Howl-O-Ween event will be held at the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County, located at 6230 77th St., Vero Beach.
The event is open to the public and free of charge, however the shelter is asking guests to bring a donation of canned or dried pet food to supplement the Humane Society Pet Food Bank. The food bank provides pet food to families struggling to feed their animals.
