James Patrick Robertson, 39, Vero Beach

James Patrick Robertson, 39, of Vero Beach died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

Robertson was born Oct. 23, 1970 in Sidney, N.Y., and moved to Vero Beach two years ago from Charleston, S.C. He was a tugboat captain and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 25 and attended the First Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Denise Robertson; parents, Cindy and Oscar Graham, of Hanahan, S.C.; son, Tyler Wright and daughter, Jamie Robertson, of Vero Beach; brother, Christopher Robertson and sister Lisa Ingle, both of Glenville, W. Va.; and biological father James Robertson of New York.

A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
