INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The forecast looks a little bit better than two weekends ago when Tropical Storm Bonnie blew through, but festival goers should still bring their umbrellas to “Summerfest: The Sounds and Flavors of Mont Blanc.”
The Cultural Council of Indian River County had to reschedule its festival at Pointe West from July 23 to Aug. 8 due to the rain the storm brought. The National Weather Service is predicting scattered thunderstorms through most of the day Sunday with a high of 85 degrees.
Sunday, the Cultural Council hopes to present a free 90-minute concert, beginning at 7:30 p.m. and performed by the Mont Blanc Chamber Orchestra.
An hour before the performance, festival goers can purchase food and drink tickets to sample treats from France, Italy and Switzerland.
Ticket sales will go to benefit the non-profit. The purchase also includes a raffle ticket for a chance to win a wide array of prizes from local businesses including the grand prize from Treasure Coast Travel Agency.
Additional beer, wine, soda, and food will be available to purchase.
Those planning to attend should bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the performance. Pets and coolers with food and drink are not permitted.
Each summer, Broward County’s Symphony of the Americas, with funding from the State of Florida’s International Cultural Exchange, join together to present “Summerfest” by selecting a renowned European chamber orchestra to tour throughout Florida, Central and South America.
This summer, the 20-piece Mont Blanc Chamber Orchestra, formed in October 1998 and featuring professional musicians from France, Italy and Switzerland, has been chosen to perform their vast repertoire of music ranging from the Baroque era to the 20th Century.
Heritage Park is located at 7500 14th Lane, Vero Beach. Enter the event through the main entrance into Pointe West off of State Road 60 just minutes west of the Indian River Mall and follow the event signs to the free parking area adjacent to Heritage Park.
