Eleanor Beatrice Love, 94, Vero Beach

Eleanor Beatrice Love, 94, died Aug. 13, 2010, in Vero Beach.

She was born in Ft. Ogden and lived in Florida all her life except for 10 years in North Carolina.

She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her sons, William Fowler, of Hayesville, N.C., and Robert Fowler, of Ft. Pierce; daughters, Mary Alice Christopher and Charlotte Alligood, both of Fort Pierce; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Earl Fowler and Millard Love; son, John Earl Fowler Jr.; daughter, Jo Anne Fowler; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 901 37th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 16 at Riverview Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service. A guestbook is available at haisleyfuneralhome.com.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. "He was well-liked by teammates and was extremely coachable. His coaches and teammates are taking it pretty hard," Sebastian River High School Athletic Director Jessica Upchurch said. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
