Kenneth A. Landers Sr., 70, Vero Beach

Kenneth A Landers Sr., 70, died Aug. 18, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Little Falls, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 45 years, coming from Richfield Springs, N.Y. He worked as an automotive mechanic and wrecker driver and coached recreational football and baseball in Vero Beach. He served in the Navy and Air Force Reserve during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was of the Catholic faith. He was former president of Indian River County National League.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Laura Lee Young Landers; sons, Kenneth A. “Chip” Landers Jr., of Vero Beach, Kelly V. Landers, of Lake Worth, David Walter Landers, of Allen, Texas, Anthony T. Landers, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Jesse U. Landers, of Vero Beach; daughters, Kendace Landers Boyce and Denielle M. Landers, both of Vero Beach, Desiree “DD” Landers Miller, of Woodstock, Ga., Mary Lynne Landers Reynolds, of Winston Salem, N.C., and Loria “Nickey” Landers, of Fort Lauderdale; brothers, David and John Landers, both of New York; sisters, Shirley Mullings and Madeline Landers, both of New York; and 17 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of Indian River County, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach, with family readings at 3 p.m.
