Dr. Donald D. Gold, 91, died Aug. 9, 2010 at VNA Hospice.
He was born in St. Paul, Minn., and lived in Vero Beach for 51 years, coming from Savannah, Ga. He started his practice of general medicine in 1959 and the Island Wellness Center in 1992. In 1969 Dr. Gold, along with Doctors E. J. Vann and William White, founded the Doctors Clinic of Family Practice Physicians in Vero Beach.
He served in the US Army during World War II.
He was a member of Community Church-United Church of Christ, Vero Beach.
He was a member of the World Health Association, American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, Florida Medical Society, Indian River County Medical Society and Fellow of American Geriatrics Society.
Survivors include his sons, Donald Davis Gold, Jr. M.D. of Paris, Tenn., and Craig Woods Gold of Vero Beach; sister, Betty Brocker of Toledo, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Billie Gold.
Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. on Aug. 12 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, with a memorial service at the funeral home, 11 a.m. Aug. 13, with the Rev. Carol A. Trax of The Community Church-United Church of Christ officiating. Entombment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
