Winifred “Winnie” Thompson McCandlish, 88, died July 15, 2010, at Indian River Estates Medical Center in Vero Beach.
She was born in Wilmette, Ill., and lived in Vero Beach for 33 years. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Vero Beach, and was active in the coffee ministry.
She was a member of Vero Beach Bridge Club, She graduated from New Trier High School in Northfield, Ill., in 1940 and attended Depauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
Survivors include her sons, Charlie McCandlish Jr. of Holly Springs, N.C., and Tom McCandlish of Richmond, Va; daughters, Randi Murdock of Ashland, Va., and Ellen Melville of Brookfield, Ct.; brother, Earnest Thompson; sister, Peggie Oliver; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Charles S. McCandlish; one brother; and two sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. July 26 at Indian River Estates-East Auditorium Vero Beach, with the Rev. William Mead officiating.
