VERO BEACH — When the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) asked Lee Olsen, Manager of Waldo’s Restaurant, to participate in their annual “Arrest Muscular Dystrophy event, which asks area business people raise “bail” donations, or be “hauled” away for the day until they can raise funds to earn freedom, he said, “sure, but I can’t lose a day away from my restaurant.”
He was assured if he raised $3200 he would not be hauled away. To ensure he doesn’t have to leave his restaurant, the well known philanthropist has decided to lock himself in a cage donated by Busch Wildlife Sanctuary for 24 hours on the Waldo’s deck, accepting donations.
“It will be hot so I think I’ll let our customers cool me off with water pistols, for a $10 donation of course.”
It will be fun and it is all for a good cause. Olsen will “arrest” himself from 5 pm Saturday, June 26 until 5 pm Sunday, June 27.
