INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Democratic Party of Indian River County celebrated a grand opening of its Headquarters at a historical moment in our nation’s history. On Sunday, March 21, as members of Congress were voting on health care reform in Washington, a strong turnout reveled outside the Headquarters with a barbecue and live band.
The event was significant because it was the opening of the first official independent Headquarters in the history of the IRC Democratic Party. The Headquarters will serve 28,000 Democrats who reside in the county and be a resource center on candidates running for local, state and national offices.
The teen led band, Urban Warfare from Vero Beach, entertained the crowd and a cross-section of young and old alike attended, confident of the year’s prospects for Democrats running statewide. Members of the Democratic Executive Committee of Indian River County were available to answer questions. After an early afternoon of festivities many made their way inside the Headquarters, where the comfortable and friendly setting enabled discussion and camaraderie.
Now that the Democrats of Indian River County have a home, we hope that citizens will become involved and participate in the Party’s activities.
Many events are planned, so please stop by or call. The friendly volunteers will answer your questions and bring you up to date. Everyone is welcome.
