VERO BEACH — Letting the family skeleton out of the closet will tickle your funny bone when the Vero Beach Theatre Guild performs “It Runs in the Family,” its final production of the season. The farce will run from May 13 to 23.
Just at the time that Dr. David Mortimer, a properly married and principled neurologist, is preparing to deliver a lecture of utmost importance in the hope of earning a knighthood, a former nurse and sweetie, Jane Tate, jolts him into focus with one shocking word, “DADDY”! After 18 years, a surprise son, Leslie, appears and wants to meet his Dad.
John Banek will play Dr. Mortimer, Kimberly Aquino portrays Ms. Tate and Malcolm Verbeck, Leslie.
Playwright Ray Cooney’s farce takes a turn toward the hysterical and hilarious as Dr. Mortimer takes matters into his own hands and attempts to outwit his wife, colleagues and a police Sargeant, played by Caroline Remillard, Jason Avery, James Kepler and George Andrew, respectively.
Other cast members include Mary Moriarty, Richard Lyne and Bill Lembeck.
Assisting Director Dee Ridenour are Caiti Meadors, stage manager; Carole Strauss, producer; and Ann McCabe, set designer.
Production manager is Denise Lee; costumes, Ann McCabe; props, Anne Talbot; hair/makeup, Madelyn Rogers; sound, Ed Dessureau; and lights, Robbie Messersmith.
Nine performances are scheduled:
At 7 p.m. May 13, 19, 20; at 2 p.m. May 16, 22, 23 and at 8 p.m. May 14, 15, 21.
