VERO BEACH — The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of the Beaches will occur overnight from Friday April 9 into Saturday, April 10 at Riverside Park. Registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the Opening Ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m.
The organizing committee is proud to announce the appearance of world-renowned vocal artist, educational activist, motivational speaker, pastor and founder of the U.S. Dream Academy, Wintley Phipps. During the Opening Ceremony, Phipps will perform the national anthem and deliver the invocation. A two-time Grammy Award nominee, Phipps is no stranger to performing in front of distinguished audiences.
Additional activities will include a silent auction with items from local retailers such as home goods, gift baskets, jewelry, artwork and personal services. Additional entertainment will include a children’s carnival sponsored by St. Edwards School, the St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Episcopal Church Choir, music by Matt Manning and the Revelers, D.J. Robert Scott, the Indian River County Fire Rescue Honor Guard, bag piping by Michael Hyde, the ARC Choir, Tania Ortega-Cowan with Patricia Moody, Stamina, belly-dancing by Parizade, dancing by Judy Becker and Robert Scott and the Spanish Lake Fairways Sunflower Dancers.
This year’s theme is “Relay Back in Time” and each team will represent a different time period. The Relay is a wonderful opportunity to go back in time with our teams in theme, dress, and camp site décor while contributing to the all important mission of the American Cancer Society. Funds raised through Relay For Life are enabling the American Cancer Society to impact the lives of those touched by cancer within our community.
