Edward James “Gummy” Gomersall, 76, of Vero Beach died Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Indian River Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 26, 1933 in Long Island, N.Y., and moved to Vero Beach in 1994 from Orlando. He had attended the University of Miami and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force.
He had been the owner of Gomersall Construction/Western Homes in Dallas and Vero Beach, worked for Weyerhauser Homes & Southmark in Dallas and Sengra & Deltona in South Florida.
He was also the Chief Engineer at the famous Peabody Hotel in Orlando.
Survivors include his wife Caroline Kelly-Gomersall of Vero Beach, sons Chris (Kimberley) Gomersall of Ft. Worth, Texas, William Dean Gomersall of Dana Point, Calif., and Thomas Andrew (Melissa) Gomersall of Kissimmee, daughter Elizabeth Ann (John) Bumgarner of Mocksville, N.C, stepsons William C. Kelly of Palm City, Brian William (Cherry) Kelly of Port St Lucie and Russell J. Kelly of Vero Beach, grandchildren, Zane and Zoe Gomersall of Ft. Worth, William and Jessie Bumgarner of Mocksville, Brandon and Patrick Kelly of Port St. Lucie, Nicole and Dennis Kelly of Palm City, and Morgan and Reagan Kelly of Vero Beach.
He was predeceased by his first wife Willie Neal Gomersall and three children, Edward Gomersall, Jennifer Gomersall and “Baby” Gomersall.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach with the Rev. Gary Moore officiating.
