VERO BEACH — Treasure Coast Chorale will present two performances on Sunday, March 7 of In The Mood, a program of familiar swing music by Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller and other greats. Both the 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. performances will be held at the First Baptist Church, 2206 16th Ave. Vero Beach.
“The decision to offer two concerts of the same great music was made to accommodate the standing-room-only crowds at our last three concerts,” says Michael Carter, Music Director of the Chorale. “We regretted having to turn people away last Memorial Day for our patriotic offering, so we’re changing our schedule.”
The March 7 program will be a Big Band Bash with the 80-member chorale and soloists singing favorite songs like “Sunny Side of the Street,” “Sing, Sing, Sing,” “Pink Panther,” and “Doctor Blues.” Also featured will be the South Wind Jazz and Pop Ensemble, a hot band fronted by drummer Ben Greene, a lively swing-dance presentation, pianist Judy Carter, and Vero’s favorite oldies trio “The Dolls.”
The Treasure Coast Chorale, now in its eighth year, offers free admission to all four of its annual concerts, asking only a free-will offering to offset expenses.
Coming on Sunday, May 2 will be “How Great Thou Art,” favorite songs of faith and inspiration.
