Lucille M. Cousineau, 79, Vero Beach

Lucille M. Cousineau, 79, died Jan. 26, 2010.

She was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and lived in Vero Beach since 1976, coming from Hollywood.

She established L&L Cousineau Jewelers in Miami in 1947, later relocating the company to Vero Beach. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Leonard Cousineau of Vero Beach; daughter, Joann Ivins of Port St. Lucie; sons, Gary Cousineau of Boca Raton, and Dwayne Cousineau of Vero Beach; daughter, Jackie Kirkman of Atlanta; sister, Marcelle Drysdale of Ottawa; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 37th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A life celebration gathering will be at 4 p.m., Jan. 30 at Riverside Park in Vero Beach. Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, in Vero Beach. A guest book may be signed at sea windsfh.com/obit.php.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Howle, Zudans win in Vero; Kinchen, McPartlan, Iovino in Sebastian

All results are in for the Vero Beach and Sebastian municipal elections. Voters have returned Harry Howle to the Vero Beach Council and Bob McPartlan and Linda Kinchen to the Sebastian Council. Val Zudans will join Howle on the Vero Council, while Albert Iovino will round out the last of three seats up for grabs on the Sebastian Council.
