INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVB & IRC) will host a Pet Trust seminar on Thursday, December 3 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the shelter’s Adoption and Education Center, 6230 77th St., Vero Beach.
The presentation’s featured speakers are Vero Beach attorney Jennifer Peshke of the law firm Stewart, Evans, Stewart & Emmons, P.A. and HSVB & IRC Director of Development Keith Hinton. Peshke will discuss various legal techniques to assure that companion animals receive proper care after the death or disability of their owner. Hinton will cover information about the shelter’s Pet Guardian plan, a program that allows families to provide the shelter with pet care directives in the event of a pet owner’s death.
“Companion animals are like members of the family. Putting your wishes in writing is the best way to clarify how you’d like your animals to be cared for by others when you are gone,” explains Hinton.
The seminar is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.
