VERO BEACH — The Republican Women of Indian River presented a new twist to their annual Luncheon and Fashion Show – Elegant Elephants. The unique, ceramic elephants, creatively decorated by local artists, not only made striking centerpieces, they were also going to be auctioned off as silent auction items.
More than 130 women attended the luncheon, held at the Grand Harbor Golf Club. Proceeds from the luncheon and auction help the organization to provide scholarships to local students, send packages to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and ship Christmas gifts to children of soldiers stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky 106th Aviation Regiment. It also helps them provide funds for a Valentine Party at St. Francis Manor and transportation for special needs children at the Sebastian River High School summer swimming program. Additionally the group has donated most of the American flags that are displayed during the holidays on bridges in Vero Beach.
Fashions were presented by Blondies on Ocean, Silk on Ocean Drive, Very Fitting, Dede’s Shoe Salon and I’ll Never Tell. Models included Representative Debbie Mayfield and Dr. Stephanie Haridopolos, wife of Senator Mike Haridopolos; other models were June Bercaw, Kolleen Bylciw, Cathie Callery, Georgia Haridopolos, Elaine Jones, Leni Mustapick, Adrianne Poteat and Katy Sirois. {igallery 44}
