Henry Eugene McAuliffe, Jr., 89, of Vero Beach, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009.
He was born June 29, 1920 in Milledgeville, Ga., and had been a winter resident since 1974 moving here permanently in 1980 coming from Oradell, N.J.
McAuliffe attended Georgia Tech and graduated from Columbia University. He joined Mobil Oil in New York in 1945 and later held the position of General Manager of Mobil Oil de Colombia in Bogota for a number of years, returning to Mobil’s New York office in 1960. In 1968 he was transferred to London, returning to the New York office again in 1970.
He was a member of the Vero Beach Country Club and former member of the Vero Beach Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Adele McAullife of Vero Beach; son, Henry E. McAuliffe, III of Virginia; 2 brothers, Hinson McAulliffe and J. Vernon McAuliffe, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his sister Venetia Rambo.
At the request of the family a memorial service will be held at a later date.
