VERO BEACH — In honor of National Dog Day, the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa and the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County hosted a doggie adoption party. Oliver, a three year old Lhasa Apso and the hotel’s now famous director of pet relations, teamed up with several HSVB & IRC shelter dogs to greet both the two-legged and four-legged party attendees. A former shelter dog himself Oliver was adopted in Miami by Vero Beach Hotel & Spa’s general manager, Marco Scherer and is now a wonderful ambassador. While the dogs enjoyed some rambunctious play, the guests mingled over glasses of wine and learned about the HSVB & IRC pet adoption procedures and volunteer opportunities. The 113-room hotel welcomes all varieties of pets with no size restrictions, additional fees or deposits. To contact Oliver, you can e-mail him at [email protected].
