VERO BEACH — The mystery of what restaurant is going into the new Ocean Park complex at the south end of Humiston Park has been solved.A new restaurant, Citrus Grillhouse, will open in the beachside location in December, according to Flamevine Partners, the developers of the mixed use complex. The chefs will be Scott Varricchio and his wife, Allison, who are also the operators.
The 163-seat Citrus Grillhouse will offer indoor and outdoor dining with direct ocean views. The restaurant’s interior is being designed in light natural tones echoing the colors of the sand, sea and sky. Chef Varricchio’s theme is “urban chic meets beachy.”
Chef Varricchio is said to have trained in some of the finest kitchens in the country, including Ouest and La Cote Basque in New York City and Picasso at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. In 2008 he was invited to be Executive Chef of the Treasure Coast Wine Festival.
“The flavors of citrus are fresh, crisp, and flavorful, which is how I like to describe my dishes. Citrus also happens to be one of my favorite culinary ingredients, so now it’s the inspiration for my new restaurant’s name,” said Chef Varricchio.
The Citrus Grillhouse will be a traditional American bistro with a touch of Italian and French influence. Daily specials will reflect the freshest seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers and top purveyors. Food presentation will be sophisticated yet familiar, and moderately priced. Initially only dinner will be served.
“We envision a family-friendly, energetic atmosphere where locals, tourists, families and professionals are always made to feel welcome and comfortable,” said co-owner Allison Varricchio.
When the restaurant opens in December, it will offer dinner only. The chefs hope to serve breakfast and lunch later.
