Doris D. Charles, 94, of Vero Beach, died July 17, 2009, at Atlantic Health Care, Vero Beach. She was born in Wadsworth, Ohio, and lived in Vero Beach since 1976.She was a stay-at-home mom most of her life, but helped manage the family-owned retail ice cream business. She was an active member of the First Mennonite Church of Wadsworth and the Community Church of Vero Beach. Until her mid-80s, she was a regular at Vero Beach High School home football games. Survivors include daughters, Pat Long, of Vero Beach, and Cathy Duffer, of Decatur, Ala.; son, Phil Charles, of Gloucester, Mass.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA & Hospice Foundation of the Treasure Coast, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. July 23 at Community Church, Vero Beach. Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
