Staff ReportSEBASTIAN — The Sebastian Police Department and Special Agents of the state’s Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco division arrested four clerks at various convenience and liquor stores Tuesday.Those arrested include Connie G. Howard, 47, Kristy Kolias, 38, Nicole Koether, 24, and Tiffany Beam, 28, according to police spokesman Steve Marcinik. Officers and agents enlisted the help of an under 21 person to enter businesses that or serve alcoholic beverages.According to Marcinik, the clerks failed to request and examine the person’s identification to determine the person’s age.The clerks each face a charge of selling alcoholic beverages to a person under 21, a misdemeanor. If convicted, they could be sentenced up to 60 days in the county jail and/or pay a fine up to $500.Those arrested worked at the following businesses:Howard: Hess station, 700 US 1Kolias: Ball Park Liquors, 9390 90th Ave.Koether: Cumberland Farms, 957 Sebastian Blvd.Beam: Exxon Mart, 727 Sebastian Blvd.They were each given notices to appear for violations of state alcohol beverage laws. Marcinik said that authorities performed a “technical arrest” of the clerks, issuing them the notice and did not book them into the Indian River County jail.
