Albert A. Del Tufo, Jr., Vero Beach
On October 11, 2018, Albert A. Del Tufo, Jr., went to be with the Lord after years of medical challenges. He was born Dec. 14, 1954, in Newark, N.J., and grew up in West Orange, N.J.
He was the third son of the late Albert A. Del Tufo and Cecelia Graziano Del Tufo.
He attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School, West Orange, N.J., and his beloved Seton Hall Prep and University. Albert had an outstanding work ethic and enjoyed working as a manager for North Jersey Equipment Company and Stephenson Machinery both in New Jersey.
No matter where he worked, he always returned to the family business Del’s Market in East Orange, N.J., where he started at 14.
When he and Susan relocated to Vero Beach in 1986, he worked in the family trade as a butcher at Red’s Meat and John Lynn.
When health prevented him from working with knives he became “Mr. Mom and the Neighborhood Greeter.” The bright sunshine, beautiful days gave Albert the opportunity to work outside which he loved. Albert never met a stranger and no matter what obstacle he faced he did so with a smile for everyone.
His family and friends will miss his Italian Dinners that gave him the greatest joy.
He volunteered in numerous activities at his church, Seton Hall Prep alumni, Boy Scouts and all his children’s activities. He was the loudest fan at any of his children’s sporting events.
Albert was preceded in death by his father, Albert, and brother, Anthony.
Albert leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Susan (nee Selzer); his devoted children, Albert III (Amber) and Nicole (Holly); three grandchildren, Zac, Grayton and Landon; his mother, Cecelia; brother, Jerry (Joanne); sisters, Francine (Pat) and Janet (Louie); numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews and an incredible number of beloved cousins and friends.
If Albert (Del, Jr, Al) could make one person smile, it made his day!
